Virginia Randolph Carris CoxDes MoinesVirginia Randolph Carris Cox, 95, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 29, 2017 at the Altoona Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. Virginia was born on March 22, 1922 in Boone, Iowa. She grew up in Des Moines and graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1940 and then attended Business College.Virginia married Howard Cox in 1941 and worked at home until 1969. She then went to work for Younkers and the State of Iowa in Junior Justice until her retirement at the age of 76. She was a member of PEO and of the Eastern Star.Virginia was an excellent artist, she played the piano, enjoyed sewing and loved her family, her pets and horses. She was fondly known as "Gingy" by all her loved ones. She will be greatly missed.Visitation will be held 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Monday, July 10, 2017 at Hamilton's Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street in Des Moines. A graveside service will follow at Violet Hill Cemetery in Perry, Iowa.Those left to honor her loving memory are her daughter, Mary Gail Sorenson; grandchildren, William Perkins and Gail Perkins; great-grandchildren, Nickolas Stamper and Alexandra Summy; great-great grandchildren, Hayden and Autumn; niece, Virginia Gail Brown; Great-niece & nephew, Brittany and Nathan; and special friends.Memorial contributions may be directed to the Animal Rescue League of Iowa.On-line condolences may be expressed at www.HamiltonsFuneralHome.com
