This obituary is administered by:
Virginia (Ginny) W. Pharris, 91, of Hazelton, passed away peacefully Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at the Grace Assisted Living Center in Boise, Idaho from natural causes. Ginny was the daughter of Carl and Lydia (Ergon) Sheer born on December 9, 1924 in Harden, Montana. She is the 6th of 7 children in a family that farmed for a living during the Depression years. The family knew how to make things stretch to support the whole family's needs, especially in the hardest of times. After several moves, the family settled down in Hazelton, Idaho. Ginny spent many days playing with her brother, Walter, closest in age, getting in mischief continually. Mother would always have to keep a close watch as the two were always testing her ability to keep them in order and out of trouble. Ginny graduated from Hazelton High School in 1943. After high school, she went to the California coast to see some of the world. She especially enjoyed Monterrey area during those times and would return to visit later in life and relive the many memories made there. During this time, she met and married Harold Guy Pharris December 30, 1943 in Jerome, Idaho. They settled down in Hazelton and started working on the Hohnhorst family farm near Greenwood. Later, they moved to Eden for a short time then bought a home in Hazelton where they would remain for the rest of their married life. They enjoyed the outdoors together as they farmed and ranched for a living in southern Idaho. Living in Hazelton where they farmed the family farm in the summers along with sheep/cattle ranching on the desert range. Winters were spent in the early years feeding and lambing sheep and later raising cattle until the spring would come again. It was a wonderful life filled with hard work in a lifestyle that they truly enjoyed. They immensely enjoyed their ranch in Stanley where they worked and played in the mountains. This was a special place where the whole Sheer family would hold a family reunion most years in July or August. These memories were the most cherished by all and were richly anticipated every summer. Pat and Ginny would pack into the high country and stay several days fishing and enjoying their mountain life.Ginny was busy as a Cub Scout and Blue Bird leader when her children were of that age and all the other neighborhood children loved to be a part of her troops. In 1984, Pat and Ginny semi-retired from the hard work and finally had a chance to travel, fish and enjoy the 5th wheel trailer wherever they had an inkling to stay. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Lydia Sheer; brothers Art Sheer of Lakeview, Oregon; Ed Sheer and Rogan Sheer of Shoshone, Idaho; Walter Sheer of Staunton, Virginia; sisters Edna Jones of Shoshone, Idaho; Alice Hohnhorst of Hazelton, Idaho; daughter-in-law, Elaine Pharris of Burley, Idaho; son-in-law, Marcus Beresford of Boise, Idaho. She is survived by son Dennis Pharris of Burley, Idaho; daughter Melissa Beresford of Boise, Idaho; son and daughter-in-law Russell and Tessie Pharris of Bliss, Idaho; 7 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren.
