Vivian Marilyn Upthegrove, age 78, of DeMotte, IN passed away Sunday, December 28, 2014 at the I U Arnett Hospital in Lafayette.  Vivian was born on April 8, 1936 in Gary, Indiana, the daughter of Phillip and Dora (Agnes) DeMers, both are deceased.On May 30, 1952 she married Raymond Gene Upthegrove and he preceded her in death in 1978. Vivian attended Hobart Public Schools and graduated from the Kankakee Valley High School. She had worked as a cook for the Flying J and at the former DeMotte IGA as a baker. Vivian enjoyed cooking, gardening, board games especially the game "Scrabble". She loved all her family, children and grandchildren. She will be deeply missed.Vivian leaves behind her children, Robert Upthegrove of DeMotte, Karen (Jeff) Cooper of Hebron, Peter Upthegrove of Fair Oaks, Edward (Pam) Upthegrove of Thayer, Susan (Larry) Young of Morocco, Constance (Scot) Pence of Martinsville; 12 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.Vivian was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son Phillip Upthegrove, 3 sisters and 1 brother.Friends my call at the Jackson Funeral Service of DeMotte on Friday, January 2, 2015 from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Funeral Services will be held at the Jackson Funeral Service of DeMotte on Friday, January 2, 2015 at 2:00 PM with Pastor Richard Thornton officiating. Burial will follow in the Hebron Cemetery.
