Feb 11, 1922 - Oct 27, 2017

This obituary is administered by:
Voline Akers ConleeMemphis, tnVoline Akers Conlee, 95, of Germantown, TN passed away peacefully on Friday, October 27, 2017. Voline was born on February 11, 1922 in Pontotoc, MS and graduated from Pontotoc High School. At the young age of 17, she moved to Memphis to work as a staff pianist at WMC Radio and accompanied numerous gospel and country groups on live radio. She married and had three children, but after being widowed at the age of 43, she went back to school and got her real estate license. Voline was a pioneer in the residential real estate industry and was a partner/owner of Germantown Realty and later, Coldwell-Banker. In 1971, she was one of only 12 charter members from across residential and commercial real estate inducted into the Million Dollar Sales Club (now, the Multi-Million Dollar Sales Club). She was active in the Shelby Co. Republican Party and a long-time member of Mullins United Methodist Church, serving in the past as a member of the official board and as a trustee. She was independently successful, discerning with every decision, and she regarded family with an unwavering sense of pride and love. On her 90th birthday, she drank her first martini. She loved to jitterbug, play piano, and she loved her diet coke. She was a lady full of opinions which she was never afraid to voice. Just a few years short of an entire century in this world (her age was her best kept secret), her infallible perseverance to never give up will be a quality that continues to inspire her surviving family for years to come.Voline was preceded in death by her parents, Maude and Olin Akers, two brothers and one sister, the love of her life, Lade Thomas Conlee, and her daughter, Christy Akers Conlee. She is survived by her son, Lade Thomas Conlee, Jr. (Tom); daughter Jenny Conlee Vergos (Nick); grandchildren, Chelsea Conlee, Lauren Conlee Loy (Ian), Britt Mallery and Cole Mallery, plus several beloved nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Sunday, October 29, from 5 p.m. - 7 p.m. at Memphis Funeral Home on Poplar, with a private graveside burial in Memorial Park on Monday, October 30 at Noon. Voline's family requests, that in lieu of flowers, any memorials be made to either Mullins United Methodist Church or the charity of the giver's choice.
You can to the family or in memory of Voline Conlee.
