Vollie Harris, of Osceola, was born on a plantation near Keiser on Aug. 13, 1929, Vollie was the son of the late Jack and Mollie Harris. He was delivered by Dr. J.T. Polk. Harris began school out on the plantation. In 1938, his grandparents moved to Osceola and the kids moved in with them during the week so they could attend Rosenwald School. Harris opened his first club in Osceola in 1956. In the early 60s, Harris sponsored the house band, “In The Grove,” which featured a young Albert King. V. In 1950, Harris married his wife of 38 years, Lois, who preceded him in death passing away in 1988. He then dated Dorothy Coleman for a number of years. Harris is survived by his children; Cynthia Harris, Shirley Twillie, Rosemary Coleman, Scotty Ridley, Stefan Coleman, Vanessa Davis, Kentrell Harris, Kyra Harris, Rhonda Royster, Kayken Harris, Shannon Coleman; and Morine Harris, Charlie Foster, Vollie Harris, Jr., and Helen Weathington, all deceased; and Sean Coleman and Staci Coleman, stepchildren. In addition to his only surviving Sister Mary Patrick of Wichita, Ks. There are way too many grandchildren to count and great-grandchildren. Altogether there are more than 300.
