Walter “KID” Dew was born January 8, 1925 in Greene County, AL to the union of Duncan Dew and Annie Posey Dew.
Walter was educated in the public school system of Greene County. He joined the United States Army at the age of 18. The year was 1943, while serving his country, Walter was wounded in action and spent several months in a VA hospital. After he recovered, Walter was honorably discharged with respects in 1947.
Walter was a celebrated World War II veteran who recieved several Decoration Of Honors including the Medal of Courage, AND the PURPLE HEART. Walter was deeply devoted to his family and a comedian in his own way.
Walter is preceded in death by his beloved parents, brother Robert “SON” Dew, and sisters Maggie Davis, and Catherine Dew.
Walter departed this earth on January 01, 2019. He leaves to cherish his life and memories: Children John Walter and Walter Jr. of Detroit, MI; Hope Dew of Las Vegas, NV; Misty Dew of Barstow, CA; and Kimberly Stallworth of Tuscaloosa, AL. His two Grand-Daughters. Sisters: Rosa Hill and Annie Richardson of Louisville KY; Virginia Terry of San Bernardino, CA; and Walter Mae Dew-Frierson of Henderson, NV. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and his longtime companion Elizabell Brady.
After retiring from the United States Marine Corps Logistics Base in Yermo CA, Walter loved driving from coast-to-coast to visit family and friends. He enjoyed smoking his Cohiba cigars and was even known to visit a casino or two. He was also known for his domino skills. He loved listening to good music, the Classic Blues.
Walter is now cruising in his Cadillac down DEW Highway in Heaven.
