Walter Frank PiperWilliamstown, NJPrivate First Class Walter Frank Piper, member of Headquarters Company, 3rd Battalion, 38th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division, was taken Prisoner of War by the enemy in South Korea on February 13, 1951. He died as a result of wounds on June 18, 1951 while being held prisoner. His name was inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial. Private First Class Piper was awarded the Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cluster, Prisoner of War Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, United Nations Service Medal, Republic of Korea War Service Medal and the Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citation.He was born on April 6, 1930 and resided in Williamstown, NJ. He was the son of the late Charles and the late Alice Piper. He is predeceased by his siblings. Walter was a 1949 graduate of Glassboro High School. A visitation will be held on Saturday, June 17th from 9:30 - 11:00 am at the FARNELLI FUNERAL HOME, 504 N. Main Street, Williamstown, where a service will follow at 11:00 am.
