Walter J. "Jerry" Henning1928 - 2015Walter J. "Jerry" Henning, 86, of Kenosha passed away Friday, Jan., 23, 2015, at Hospice House, surrounded by his loving family.Jerry was born on the kitchen table in Kentucky on May 26, 1928. As a young man he served with the U.S. Air Force testing winter gear in the "territory" of Alaska and also served in the U.S. army. After serving in the armed forces Jerry moved to Beloit, Wis., where he met his future wife, Olene, working as a waitress. "I went in to get a hamburger and I came out with a wife" he'd like to say. They were married in July of 1958 the same year they came to work for American Motors in Kenosha until retirement in 1988.Jerry was a big fan since childhood of the Cincinnati Reds. Luckily Olene won him over on cheering for the Green Bay Packers. Jerry loved enjoying his retirement at his cabin in Crivitz, Wis. Raising generations of his family on hunting and fishing the land. The golden years of retirement were enjoyed by Jerry with almost 30 years of sobriety thanks to his loving wife and AA.Jerry is survived by his five children, Robert E. (Janice) Johnson, Richard A. Johnson, Deborah J. (Kim) Yzenga, Deanna J. Olsen, Donna J. (Tony) Niesen; 18 grandchildren; and 19 great grandchildren. He will be missed for his sweet country charm and great witty humor.A visitation will be held on Monday, Jan. 26, 2015, at Kenosha Funeral Services from 10 a.m. to 12 Noon, with funeral services to follow at 12 Noon. He will be laid to rest next to Olene at Sunset Ridge Memorial Park.In lieu of flowers memorials to Hospice Alliance would be appreciated.
