Walter Mitchell Wade After a brief battle with aggressive stomach cancer, Walter Mitchell Wade died on July 2, 2016 in Hilton Head Island, SC at the age of 59. Mitchel was with his wife, Lea Wade; his children, Mitch Wade from Hilton Head Island, Katie Donald from Knoxville and Sarah Wade from New York City; and his grandchildren, Charlie and Caroline Donald from Knoxville. Mitchell was born on August 26, 1956 in Valdosta, GA, to father Jack Wade and mother Alethia Stuckey Wade. Mitchell graduated in 1978 from Valdosta State College where he was active in the Kappa Alpha Fraternity. Mitchell graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree with a concentration in accounting. Mitchell married his college sweetheart Lea Bull on August 25, 1979. After graduation Mitchell took a job as an accountant and moved to Hilton Head Island. There the couple lived and raised their three children. Prior to establishing Wade & Associates CPA, LLC, in 1992, Mitchell worked for other prominent accounting firms in the Hilton Head area. Mitchell served on the board for many organizations in the community including Board of Directors for Sea Pines Montessori School as the Treasure (1993-1996), Board of Directors Hilton Head Preparatory School as the Treasure (six-year term), Board of Directors for the Foundation of the Low Country, Finance Committee for St. Andrew by the Sea United Methodist Church, Board of Directors for the Island School Council, Member Sertoma Club and a Boy Scout Leader. Mitchell is survived by his wife of 37 years, children and grandchildren, as well as his father-in-law Harry Bull, his sister, Jackie Bailey; and his nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents. Mitchell loved to spend his free time traveling with his wife and spending as much quality time with his family as possible. A memorial service will be held at Saint Andrew by the Sea United Methodist Church on July 8th, at 2pm. Immediately following the service there will be a reception at the South Carolina Yacht Club in Windmill Harbor.
