Walter SittelFRESNO: Walter E. Sittel, age 76, of Fresno, passed away on Friday, January 3, 2014, after a brief illness of cancer. He was born on March 8, 1937, to the late Walter A. and Margaret (Slack) Sittel-Krebs. He graduated from Coshocton High School in 1955, and then entered the U.S.
Army Special Forces 77th Air Borne until 1958. Walter was employed by G.E. before entering the Army and then he worked for Cyclops-A.K. Steel for 30 years until his retirement. On August 23, 1959, he married Janice (Leiendecker) Sittel who survives. Walter was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Coshocton for 67 years. A 60 year member of the Keene Grange. He was a life member of AMVETS of Coshocton; a member of the AARP, Farm Bureau, Buckeye Sheriff Association, a former member of the Coshocton County Sheriff Diving and Rescue Team under Sheriff Hoop, and he was an avid bowler for many years. Walter is survived by his wife, Janice; one step-brother, James Krebs; one step-sister, Mary Krebs Kaser; numerous brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins in Germany. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Karl; step-father; and father and mother-in-law, Clyde and Clara (Steffe) Leiendecker. A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 10, 2014 in the Chapel of Given-Dawson Funeral Home at 11:00 am with Pastor Neal Dearyon officiating. A graveside service will take place at 1:30 pm in Grandview Union Cemetery in Strasburg, with military honors being performed. Calling hours will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, January 9, 2014 from 5-7:00 pm. For those that wish, memorial donations may be made in Walters name to the Wounded Warrior Project, P. O.
