CANADY Mr. Walter William Canady was born on June 23, 1942, to James Canady and Mary Lusendy Byers Canady in Hattiesville, Arkansas. He was the second oldest of nine children. Walt departed this life on November 12, 2016 He was preceded in death by his oldest brother, Jesse Canady and his younger brother, Jerry Canady. Walt, as he was affectionately known, graduated from Central High School in Kansas City, Missouri and then attended Metropolitan Community College where he earned an Associate Degree. He was drafted into the U.S
Army and received an Honorable Discharge. He returned and went on to attend Park University and earned a Bachelor's Degree. Walt was an active member of several organizations, including The Adonics, The Fellas Social Club and the Centralites, where he held the office of Treasurer and President. Walt worked for Douglas Bank for many years and then moved on to work for the Fireman's Fund as an Insurance Auditor. He retired and then went back to work for Overland Solutions for over eight years as an Auditor. Walt was baptized and professed his faith at St. John Baptist Church in Kansas City, Kansas. He later joined Second Missionary Baptist Church as a faithful and dedicated member, where he remained until death. He courageously fought his battle with cancer Mr. Walter (Walt) William Canady leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Patsy Syrus Canady; one son, Walter (Wick) Imara Canady of Atlanta, Georgia; his beloved daughter, Nicholle (Nikkie) Canady; two brothers, Charles Canady (Janet) of Kansas City, Missouri and Terry Canady of Memphis, Tennessee; four sisters: Dorothy Anderson (Odie) of Byhalia, Mississippi, Sylvia Hill of Florissant, Missouri, Kathy Jackson of Kansas City, Missouri, and Shirley Roberts (Oscar) of Kansas City, Missouri; grandchildren: Dominic, DyMon, Michaela, Michael, and A'Marion; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Funeral Services for Mr. Walter (Walt) William Canady will be held Monday, November 21, 11:00 a.m. at Second Missionary Baptist Church, 5111 Harry Truman Drive. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the Church. Interment, 1:30 p.m., Leavenworth National Cemetery.
