This obituary is administered by:
Wanda Parks MilbourneCrisfield-Wanda Parks Milbourne, 80, of Crisfield, Maryland, left this world peacefully on January 3, 2017. A native of Crisfield, she was born on November 21, 1936 and was the daughter of the late Allen Neville Parks and the late Nellie Collins Parks of Crisfield. She was a graduate of Crisfield High School in 1954, and a graduate of State Teachers College in Salisbury (now Salisbury University) in 1959. For over thirty one years she was a teacher for the Somerset County Board of Education, teaching third and fifth grades at the Marion School for the first six years of her career, while spending the final twenty five years teaching first grade at Crisfield Elementary School #1 (later H. DeWayne Whittington Primary School). She was loved by many of her students both during and long after her retirement, and she was often greeted by the call of "Mrs. Milbourne" or "Miss Wanda" followed by a hug from a long ago student who now towered above her.Following her retirement in 1990, she became active in many civic organizations. She was a member of the Somerset County Chapter of the American Association for Retired Persons (AARP), serving as an officer of the chapter for several years. She was also a member and long-time Secretary of the Chesapeake Chapter #28 of the Order of the Eastern Star until its dissolution. In addition, she was a member of the Crisfield Lioness Club for many years, and was a charter member when the Lioness Club converted itself to a full-fledged Lions Club. She served in several officer positions with both of these clubs as well. She was also active in the Crisfield Heritage Foundation (formerly the J. Millard Tawes Museum Foundation) and served as a "walking tour" guide for many years. She was also a member of the Asbury United Methodist Church for years, and participated in several of its "circles" as well as being a member at the time of her passing of the Faith Fellowship Assembly of God. Last, but certainly not least, she was a member of the Wednesday and Monday bridge clubs for many years, and enjoyed both the games and camaraderie immensely. She is survived by her husband of fifty seven years, Roy A. Milbourne; and her son, Stacey A. Milbourne, both of Crisfield. Also surviving her is her brother A. Asbury Parks and his wife, Donna, of Salisbury; her brother-in-law, Thomas E. Milbourne and his wife Phyllis Hayden Milbourne of Summerville, SC; another brother-in-law, Michael C. Milbourne and his wife Terri of Crisfield; her nephew, A.
