Warren Dwight Reid, 67, born April 18th 1956 in Brooklyn, NY. He departed this life on July 21st 2023 in his home surrounded by love.
He was preceded in death by his mother Helen Reid, and his late wife Harvie Michelle Reid, whom he shared love, children and wonderful memories. He is survived by his wife Kathy Brooks-Reid, children Latosha Reid, Warren “Poppy” (Tamiko) Reid III, Jamaal (Tan) Reid, Nakida Dunson, Amanda Reid, and Kiarra Reid (Marcus Graves) Bonus sons Mychal (DeShaun) Donaldson & Kameron (Makenzie) Brooks; grandchildren, Christopher Reid Sr, SaMya Barron, TyAsia Reid, NaRiyah Graves, Harvie Dunson, Jaidah Reid, Ira Robinson Jr, Marcus Graves Jr, Irie Robinson, Kyra Reid, Elijah Reid, Kash Reid, Zhiyon Graves, Emerson Watkins, Madeline & Gabrielle Donaldson, Kameron JR, Natalia, Kamella Brooks, & Jordan Milzark; two great grandsons, Zechariah Reid & Christopher Reid Jr; one sister Brenda (Edgar) Arrell and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Warren graduated from New Dorp High School in 1974 in Staten Island, NY. He then went on to join the U.S Army where he was stationed at a plethora of locations including Germany. He continued to rank but also received his Bachelor’s Degree in Law and Justice from Maryland University. Warren became Sergeant First Class and an Army Recruiter, and began to recruit young men out of Lexington Ky. He later received the top-most ranking as he exceeded military standards and was honorably discharged.
Warren had many jobs throughout the years but significantly owned a Mortgage Company, a Transitional Home for Women, an Automobile Dealership, and was the general manager for Empire Auto Sales for a decade.
Warren was an advocate for education. Later on in life he received his Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work from Eastern Kentucky University, and continued at Campbellsville University where he received his Masters.
Warren loved his family and friends, enjoyed watching sports, travelling, working, learning, and teaching. He always had an encouraging word and gave insightful advice. There are many words to describe him but he was a humble, selfless, loving, understanding, giving, intelligent, educated man with great pride, dignity, strength, respect, and love.
He was loved, admired, an inspiration and a blessing to all who knew him, he will be greatly missed.
