RACINE - Warren L. Smith Sr., 88, passed away on May 26, 2012, at Wheaton Franciscan Hospital in Racine. Warren was born on July 10, 1923, in Shamokin, PA. On September 28, 1946 he was united in marriage to Jean M. Sorensen. Warren worked for the U.S. Government, Massey -Ferguson and retired from Allis Chalmers Corporation on August 31, 1984. Warren and Jean enjoyed many subsequent winters in Florida. He was a member of Holy Communion Lutheran Church of Racine, Belle City Lodge #98, F&A.M. of Racine, Tripoli Shrine Temple of Milwaukee, Scottish Rite Bodies Valley of Milwaukee, York Rite Bodies of Racine and Tall Cedars of Lebanon of Milwaukee. Warren was a veteran of World War II having served in the European Theater of Operation and was a member of American Legion Post #310. He is survived by his wife; two sons; Warren L. (Barbara) Smith Jr., and Richard C. (Ann) Smith all of Racine. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Tomorra Smith, Meredith (David) Messina, Conor Smith (Dr. Kirsten Sasaki) Ian Smith, Brian (Melissa) Smith, and great granddaughter, Mikalah. He is also survived by one sister and brother-in-law, Beverly (Harry) Dietz of Shamokin, PA and several nieces and nephews. Warren was preceded in his parents, J. LeRoy and Mary (nee: Miller) Smith, an infant brother, his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Chris and Mary (Steffenson) Sorensen and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, George and Winifred MacDougall. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 31, 2012 at 1 p.m. at Holy Communion Lutheran Church, 2000 W. 6th Street. Visitation with the family will be held at church from 11:30 a.m. until service time. Memorials to Holy Communion Lutheran Church of Racine, Trinity Lutheran Church of Shamokin, PA or the Shriners Hospitals for Crippled Children of Chicago, IL have been suggested.
