It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Wayne Dixie Sr, a beloved father, husband, and pillar of the Milford, Ohio community. Wayne was born on August 27, 1947, to loving parents who instilled in him strong values and a deep sense of community service.
Throughout his life, Wayne dedicated himself to serving others. He proudly served in the United States Army, where he showed unwavering courage and commitment to his country. Wayne's dedication to his fellow servicemen and women earned him several accolades, including the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star.
After his honorable discharge from the military, Wayne returned home to Milford, where he continued his service to the community as a dedicated firefighter. Over the course of his career, he bravely faced countless emergencies, risking his own safety to protect others. His selflessness and courage earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues and the community at large.
Wayne will be remembered not only for his service to his country and community but also for his deeply loving and compassionate nature. As a devoted husband to his wife of 52 years, Roberta, he was a constant source of support, love, and unwavering loyalty. Their love story served as an inspiration to all who knew them.
In addition to being a loving husband, Wayne was an exceptional father to his three children, Wayne Jr., Mary, and Annie and host of nieces nephew and grandchildren’s whom he loved dearly . He was a constant presence in their lives, offering guidance, encouragement, and unconditional love. He attended countless soccer games, school recitals, and important milestones, always ensuring that his children knew they were supported and cherished.
Wayne had a passion for giving back and was actively involved in numerous civic and charitable organizations throughout the years. He dedicated his time and energy to causes close to his heart, including veterans' organizations and local community outreach programs. His commitment to making the world a better place inspired those around him and left a lasting impact.
Outside of his service work, Wayne had a zest for life. He loved exploring the great outdoors, often taking his family on camping trips and adventures in nature. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed spending time on the course with his friends, where his warm smile and infectious laughter made him a joy to be around.
On September 11, 2023, Wayne Dixie Sr passed away, leaving behind a legacy of love, service, and kindness. His loss is deeply felt by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. Wayne leaves behind a void that cannot be filled, but his spirit will continue to inspire those who endeavor to follow in his footsteps.
We will honor Wayne's memory with a memorial service on September 15th, 2023, at the Milford Community Center. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to the Veterans Assistance Fund, an organization that was near and dear to Wayne's heart.
Wayne Dixie Sr may no longer be with us, but his legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched and the immeasurable impact he made. Rest in peace, dear friend.
