Wayne ColwellPEORIA - Heaven shined brighter as Wayne Colwell passed from this life to the next at 7:56 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2016, at Proctor Hospital with his family by his side. Visitation will be 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 30 at Weber-Hurd Funeral Home in Chillicothe, with rosary at 1:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday, Oct. 31 at 10 a.m. at St. Edwards Catholic Church with Father Walder officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Cemetery. Wayne was born on Dec. 4, 1938, in Sparland, Ill., to Harry and Grace (Stotler) Colwell. He graduated from Sparland High School. Wayne worked at JT Fennell Co. for over 40 years as a welder, weld foreman, and finally as an engineer before his retirement. In his free time, Wayne could be found tending his garden, caring for his lawn, fishing and hunting with his sons and grandchildren, and making people laugh. He had a passion for wood-working, which can be seen in his home and that of his children and grandchildren. Nothing was more important to him than family. Wayne married the love of his life, Mary Lutes, and the two have shared over fifty-eight years. She survives, as well as their five sons: Jeff (Sandra) Colwell, Brian (Nancy) Colwell, Alan (Laurie) Colwell, Danny (Shawna) Colwell, and Greg (Amanda) Colwell; sixteen grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren; and five brothers and sisters. He was preceded in death by his parents and four siblings. Pape Family Funeral Home of Danville is in charge of arrangements, assisted by Weber Hurd Funeral Home of Chillicothe.
