Wayne Reed CrookBeaver, UtahDr. Wayne Reed Crook passed away on March 3, 2017 after a long illness. He was born on July 27, 1929 to William H. Crook and Annie E. Haderlie in Freedom, WY. He married Ruth Knighton on July 7, 1955 in the Logan, UT Temple.He graduated from Star Valley High School. He went to Utah State University where he received his Bachelor's degree. He then attended the University of Idaho where he received his Master's degree. He earned his Doctorate at Brigham Young University. He was a vocational agriculture, physics and math teacher, principal in both Kimberly, ID and Aberdeen, ID. He drove a school bus and taught drivers ed during the summer. He finished his career as the assistant superintendent for the Beaver County School District.He served in the Army during the Korean Conflict. He was an artillery instructor at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma. He was a member of the American Legion.He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and had many callings. He served a mission to the East Central States. He was a gospel doctrine instructor, ward clerk, a counselor in the bishopric, a stake executive secretary, and served on the stake high council. He was a temple ordinance worker in St. George, UT for 16 years and then went on two temple service missions with his sweetheart Ruth. They went to the Chicago Temple and the Dallas Temple.Wayne was always busy making something both beautiful and useful. He was an excellent woodworker, and made many items of furniture for his family and friends. He loved to garden and would always share the excess with others. He loved to golf and was a candy maker extraordinaire. He loved his family and was always ready to make them laugh with his sharp wit.He is survived by his wife Ruth of Beaver UT, his children Susan (John D.) Smith of Beaver and Paul (Joanne) Crook of Elk Ridge UT, Natalie Rost of Tennessee, his sister Leah (Ivie) Bitten, 6 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents, son David, great granddaughter Elaine Ruth Andrew, and siblings Newell, Lyman, Atha Jackson and Gretta Barrowman.Services will be held Thursday March 9, 2017 at 11:00 am in the Beaver Stake Center (1350 E 200 N Beaver, UT). A viewing will be held before the services from 9:00 am to 10:30 am. Interment will be at the Beaver Mountain View Cemetery. He will be laid to rest beside his son.
