BRYAN, Ohio — Wayne L. Patee, age 89, of Bryan, Ohio, and a longtime resident of Edon, Ohio, died at 2:45 p.m. on Monday, June 1, 2015, after a brief illness at Community Hospitals and Wellness Centers in Bryan, where he was a patient. Mr. Patee was a veteran of World War II, serving with the 594th JASCO Unit (Joint Assault Signal Company) in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater. A longtime mechanic, he was employed by Reas Chevrolet in Edon for many years and then for Vic Miller Ford, also in Edon, during which he earned mechanical degrees from both General Motors and the Ford Motor Company. He purchased the Ford business from Vic Miller and operated it for eight years prior to going to work for Simpson Industries, from where he retired with 25 years of service. As a private pilot, he enjoyed flying and owning his own plane. Wayne was a member of the Edon American Legion Post 662 and also of Bethlehem Christian Union Church near Edon. Wayne L. Patee was born on May 1, 1926, in Auburn, Indiana, the son of Mearl and Mabel (Harter) Patee. He married Doris W. Musser on May 1, 1944, in Auburn, and she survives. Survivors also include three daughters, Diann (Barry) Rehmert of Blakeslee, Ohio, Linda Parson of Temperance, Michigan, and Colleen (Jim) Siebenaler of Edon; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Richard and Ray Patee; and one sister, Glennabelle Erwin. Graveside services will be held in Edon Cemetery on Friday, June 5, 2015, at 11:30 a.m. with Pastor Michael Slagle officiating.
