Wayne Vincent Stevens Jr.MANSFIELD: Wayne Vincent STEVENS, JR, 61, passed this life on Thursday, April 27, 2017 after an extended illness.Mr. Stevens was born on Monday, February 27, 1956 to the late Wayne E. and Janice Marie (Madison) Stevens in Mansfield. Wayne enlisted in the US Navy with his best friend Terry Pender under the buddy system, serving during the Vietnam War from 1974-1976. He was on the USS John F. Kennedy ship in the position of a boiler technician. A year after Wayne was discharged he moved to Marion for 24 years, where he was employed with Pillsbury, Marion Correctional Institution, his final employment was with Whirlpool Corporation. Wayne returned to Mansfield in 2002.Wayne is survived by 2 daughters: Whitney Stevens, Mansfield and Ashley Stevens, Marion; 4 sons: Wayne E. Stevens, III, and DeMarrio Palmer, Mansfield, Andre Rashad Stevens, Marion, and Quinten Wilson, Columbus; step son: Tywhon Butler whom he raised as his own, Marion; 4 siblings: Shawn Madison, and April (Kenneth) Jackson, Mansfield, Scott Stevens, Orville, and Shelley Arnold, Virginia Beach, Virginia; wife: Mia Stevens; companion/caregiver: Gwendolyn Lane, of Mansfield, and 8 grandchildren. A memorial service will be held Saturday, in the Chapel of Williams Funeral Services at 10:30 AM with Pastor Jeff Jones of the First Baptist Church of Mansfield officiating.
