Fisher, Wendy L.Wendy Lea Fisher, 59, passed away in the early hours of November 12, 2016 at Columbia-Presbyterian after a monthlong battle with cancer. Wendy is survived by her husband Robert Leonard Fisher Jr. of Trumbull, her son Daniel Robert Fisher of Newtown, and her mother Veronica Selwitz, of Danbury. She was predeceased by her father, Roy Selwitz, in 2008. Wendy also leaves behind her loving brother David Selwitz, his wife Kathy, and their son David. Part of a large family, her memory will be cherished by her many aunts and cousins. A lifelong resident of Fairfield County, Wendy was born on March 12, 1957 at Norwalk Hospital. After spending the early part of her life in Norwalk, she later graduated from Ridgefield High School in 1975. She would also go on to spend over a decade with various banks in the area, where her presence was greatly appreciated by the community and co-workers alike. Wendy married her husband Robert on New Years Eve of 1992, and later moved together to Newtown, where they would raise their son. In late 2011 she underwent a successful lung transplant to combat emphysema, an ailment that she endured against through out most of her adult life. Wendy will be remembered by many things, including her deep passion for art. Her landscape pieces and house portraits were greatly enjoyed by family and friends alike. She had an eye for design, and was able to completely transform a room. Among her many traits, Wendy will always be known for her loving nature and caring attitude, which she extended to everyone around her. She had a fondness for animals that never went unnoticed, and a certain soft spot for her dogs. She would always do whatever she could to help in any situation, and never hesitated to offer a helping hand; frequently assisting in many ventures to help dogs in need. Commemorated for always putting others before herself, Wendy's compassion will never be questioned. Friends may call from 4PM-7PM on Thursday Nov. 17th, at Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a graveside service to be held Friday Nov. 18th at 11AM at Resurrection Cemetery on Rte. 25 in Newtown. In lieu of flowers, all donations are asked to be forwarded to Green Fur Kidz Inc. ([email protected]), a charity that Wendy held very close to her heart.
