Wesley Arthur SwansonNaples, FLWesley Arthur Swanson, a resident of Bentley Village, died on May 17, 2017. He was born on July 5, 1923 in Red Wing, Minnesota to Clifford E. Swanson and Adeline A. (Munson) Swanson. He lived in Red Wing during his early years; served 2 years in the U.S. Navy during WWII; graduated from the University of Minnesota with a B.E.E. degree and an MBA degree from Indiana University; worked for Western Electric, General Electric and Honeywell for 36 years; in 1982 retired and moved to Naples, Florida in 1984. His wife of 50 years, Norma Swanson, passed away on September 25, 2005.He is survived by his daughter, Judy Anderson in Louisville, KY; son David Swanson and his wife Hazel, in Knoxville, TN; 5 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and a sister Helen Arnold (Duane) in Rochester, Minnesota.Wesley lived and worked for the most part in the computer industry-software programming and marketing. He was one of the early computer programmers on UnivacI while working for GE in Louisville in the early 1950's. He worked and lived in many places-Minnestoa, Indiana, Kentucky, New York, Georgia, New York City, and Maryland before retiring in Minneapolis in 1982 and living the last 35 years in Naples, FL.Funeral arrangements will be private at his request.
