Wesley Brede Obituary

Jun 21, 1934 - Apr 17, 1999

This obituary is administered by:
Wesley Garfield BredeJune 21, 1934 - July 30, 2014Wesley (Wes) Garfield Brede was born on June 21,1934 in Bamesville Minnesota to Ulinka and William Brede. He passed away Wednesday July 30, 2014 at a local hospital. Wes met the love of his life, Virginia (Virg) Myers during a Walter League Church roller-skating party when he was only sixteen years old. With the help of a 46- ford convertible and his striking smile, he was able steal her heart. They married on the Marine Corps birthday, November 10, 1956, which Wes said was an easy day for him to remember. Virg passed away April 17,1999 and not a day went by that he did not think of her.Wes proudly served his country as a United States Marine from 1953 to 1956, where he earned the following awards and decorations: National Defense Medal, Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal and a Good Conduct Medal.Wes and Virg had six wonderful children who all loved him dearly. Family events were always a special time, filled with laughter, fun and great food. Wes was a devoted picker who could transform seemingly useless junk into something truly spectacular. You could always tell when he had a good day picking by the silly grin on his face as he described his daily venture. Wes often talked about some of his favorite jobs. One in particular was when he worked at a machine shop, where he had the opportunity to bring new life to old things, like turning pedal sewing machines into more efficient electric machines. Wes attended the Dunwoody Institute in Minneapolis Minnesota, specializing in carpentry. He spent the majority of his life as a brick mason, but was well versed in all construction trades to include electrical and plumbing. He worked in the construction industry until his retirement at the age of 72. Wes loved to build, fix and tinker, keeping busy all the time. His work ethic was without comparison and contagious as reflected in his six children.Wes is survived by his six children and their spouses: Terrie (Roy) Britton, Randy (Lucy) Bredet, Rick (Sony) Brede, Jim (Judy) Brede, Jill (Bob) Arnold and John (Anna) Brede. Grandchildren: Mandy, Angie, Billy, Matt, Ali, Kyla, Kylie, Paige, Jonathan, Zoie, Roni, Jamest Maddie, Justina, Trevor and Kennedy. Great Grandchildren: Laef, Mattie, Jordon, Ray and another on the way. He is survived by his five sisters and one brother Violet Schildan, Jackie Schroeder, Velma Anderson, Ronnie Pofahl, Ginny Kluver, Toby Brede and many nieces and nephews. In laws: Tom Myers, Vicki Terfehr, Lynne Angell, Paul Anderson, Carol Brede and his dear friend Nancy. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Virginia (Virg), mother Ulinka, father William, mother-in-law Edna Myers, father-in-law Jack Myers and brothers Wilben Brede, Willis Brede, Bill Brede, two grandsons Anthony and Levi Brede. Brother-in-laws: Mike Myers, Jerry Kluver, Warren Schroeder, Bill Pofahl, Russ Schildan and sister-in-law Mildred Brede.Wes was truly one of a kind and he will be terribly missed by all.Memorial Services will be held Saturday, August 9,2014 at 4:00 PM at Messiah Lutheran Church, 534 West Iowa Avenue, Nampa ID 83686.
