SANFORD, Maine - Wesley Wentworth Wheeler, 93, of Sanford, Maine, formally of Somersworth, N.H., passed away on Tuesday, November 1, 2016, at Wentworth Douglas Hospital with his family by his side. Wes was one of nine children born on June 12, 1923, to Arthur and Christine Wheeler in the family's farm house in Lexington, Mass. He is survived by his daughter Nicole Wheeler, her husband Anthony Holmes, granddaughter Isabella L. Wheeler, Diane Eldridge wife of 22 years. He is also survived by his two sisters Marjorie Stiles and Barbra Potter. He is predeceased by his brothers Charles, Edwin, Richard, Harold, Raymond, and his sister Phyllis. Wesley joined the U.S. Coast Guard and served two tours in World War II as a first class machinist mate. After he retired he bought a farm in Strafford, N.H., he worked and retired from Watts fluid and power as a superintendent. He spent his retirement days in Somersworth at Debs Laundromat and Diane's Diner. In his free time he enjoyed being outside, cutting and hauling wood with his brothers. Wesley was a beloved father, grandfather, brother and son. SERVICE: Services will be on Monday, November 7, 2016, at 10 a.m., at Southern Maine Veterans Cemetery, 83 Stanley Rd., Springvale, Maine, 04083, with a gathering to follow at the family's home, 5 Deborah Ave., Sanford, Maine, 04073.
