Wilber H. LampCANAL WINCHESTER: Wilber H. Lamp, of Canal Winchester, 90 years old, passed away on Thursday, October 17, 2013 at Primrose Retirement Center in Lancaster, OH. Wilber was born on January 28, 1923 in Morrow County, Ohio. He attended Groveport High School, was a lifetime farmer, longtime member of David's United Church of Christ, in Canal Winchester, and a founding member of the Canal Winchester 100 Bushel Corn Club. Wilber and his wife, Miriam were proud to have won the Elanco High Yield Contest for Soybeans in Ohio and were awarded a 10 day trip to the Orient with 20 other state winners, where they promoted soybeans worldwide. He was proud of his family and to be part of the "Farm Family" in promoting No-Till and Conservation Farming. He is survived by his sons, Tom (Barbara) Lamp and Jerry (Carol) Lamp both of Lancaster; grandchildren, Richard (Beth) Lamp, Robert (Jodi) Lamp Tiffany (Scott) Affolter, Jeff Lamp and Matt (Tara) Lamp; great grandchildren, Christopher, Coty, Tanner, Talon, Beckem and Kenzie. He was preceded in death by his parents, Benson Sr. and Ruth Lamp; brothers, Harold Lamp and Benson Lamp Jr.; his beloved wife of 54 years, Miriam (Ballmer) Lamp; and many cousins. The family would like to acknowledge and thank the employees of Primrose Retirement Community and FairHOpe Hospice for their gentile care of Wilber. Friends may visit from 2-6 PM on Sunday, October 20, 2013 at the DWAYNE R. SPENCE FUNERAL HOME 650 W. Waterloo St. Canal Winchester, OH where the service will be held at 11 AM on Monday, with visitation one hour prior to the service.
