Willa Lester, age 83, of Maiden, NC, passed away on Monday, November 18, 2019, at Carolina Caring of Newton. Born on July 16, 1936, in Wilkes County, she was the daughter of the late Woodrow Lester and Effie Clyde Parsons Lester.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Parzy; and brothers, Woody Lester and Ronnie Lester.

Those left to cherish her memory are daughters, Mary Bednarski and husband Gary of Conover, NC, and Suzanne Parzy of Winder, GA; brother, Larry Lester and wife Tammie of North Dakota; sisters, Jean Higginbotham and husband Bob and Brenda Lester, both of Jacksonville, FL; sister-in-law, Lynn Lester; grandchildren, Allyson Bednarski, Jacob Bednarski, and Andrew O’Cock.

Willa retired from J.C. Penney as a sales associate. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Maiden. Willa loved bingo and telling jokes. She was a loving mother and grandmother.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, November 20, 2019, at 7:00 p.m., in the Drum Funeral Home Chapel in Conover, NC, with the Rev. Eddie Andrews officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. - 6:45 p.m. prior to the service.

The burial will be held on Friday, November 22, 2019, at Lakeland Memorial Gardens in Lakeland, FL.
