Willadean Beer11/15/1924 - 6/25/2016Willadean was born November 15, 1924 at the family home in Texas County, Oklahoma, near the town of Guymon in Oklahoma's panhandle. Her parents were Leslie Wayne Gloden, Sr. and Matilda Ann Walter; she had one older brother, Leslie Wayne Gloden, Jr.She and her husband, Devon Beer, met when he and his family from Idaho were visiting relatives that lived a few miles from the Glodens. They were married in Guymon, Oklahoma, on March 7, 1942. Their first son, Larry, was born December 3, 1942. During World War II and Devon's service in the Army, Willadean and Larry lived in Idaho near her in-laws.After the war, they returned to Oklahoma for a few years, and this is where their second son, Stephen was born on August 7, 1949. In 1954, the family moved from Oklahoma to Nampa, Idaho. When Stephen started school, Willadean entered the workforce. Her secretarial career spanned more than a dozen years, first with Nampa Lumber Company and then with Grange Mutual Life.Devon and Willadean were active members of the Church of the Open Door, and later, the First Church of the Nazarene in Nampa. Among her other non-work interests, Willadean loved gardening and beautiful flowers. An accomplished musician, she also enjoyed playing the piano, and later, learning and playing the organ. She traced and documented several generations of her family tree, and was successful in achieving membership in the Daughters of the American Revolution.Willadean and Devon did a good deal of traveling in retirement, traversing much of the continental United States in their motor home. Additionally, they were able to travel to Hawaii. For a number of years, they spent their winters in Casa Grande, AZ.Willadean passed away on Saturday evening, June 25, 2016, at St. Luke's hospital in Meridian, Idaho, where she was recovering from hip surgery. She is preceded in death by her parents: Leslie Wayne Gloden, Sr. and Matilda (Walter) Gloden, Guymon, OK, and her brother: Leslie Wayne Gloden, Jr., Guymon, OK. She is survived by her husband: Devon Beer, Meridian, ID. Her two sons: Larry (Teddy) Beer, Walla Walla, WA, Stephen Beer, Plano, TX, three granddaughters: Dana Beer and Kari Beer Zehner, Walla Walla, WA, and Danette Beer Drypolcher, Goodyear, AZ, two great-granddaughters: Alexandria Zehner (John) Brown, Walla Walla, WA, and Brie'An Drypolcher, Goodyear, AZ, three great-grandsons Zach Zehner, Nick Zehner, and Ethan Zehner, Walla Walla, WA, and a great-great-grandson John Eric Brown, III, Walla Walla, WA. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 30 at 10:00 am at Alsip and Persons Funeral Chapel, 404 10th Ave. South Nampa. 466-3545. Viewing will be held prior to the service starting at 9:00 am. Interment will follow at Terrace Lawn Memorial Gardens, Meridian ID.
