Columbia, South Carolina - William billy Grigsby, died on Monday Oct 07th,2024 at home after a period of failing health and surrounded by loving family. He was 88.


Dr. Grigsby was born on July 20,1935, the son of the late William and Mahota Grigsby of Chickasha, OK, and had recently moved to Columbia, SC, after a dozen wonderful years of retirement in Beaufort, SC.


Dr. Grigsby was a graduate of Chickasha High School and held a master's degree and doctorate in accounting business administration from the University of Oklahoma. He was a devoted follower of OU football.


Central to his life was his family. Bill is survived by his devoted wife of nearly 45 years, Geneva "Kay" Grigsby, his daughters Gamin (Keith) Davis of Prairie Grove, AR, and Mia (Marc) Rapport of Columbia; his son Bill of Guthrie, OK; his stepdaughters, Courtney (Phil) Worsham of Columbia and Casey (Frank) Stroncheck of Beaufort, and a niece Kristin Grigsby of Rogers,Arkansas and a nephew Lucas Grigsby of altus, Arkansas and grandchildren Henry Horlbeck, Luke Worsham, Matt Worsham, and Gabby Stroncheck.and 15 great-grandchildren.


In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ann, in 1979.


Services will be held on Saturday, Oct 12,2024 at 1 p.m. at Still Hopes Episcopal Retirement Community in West Columbia, SC. Dunbar Funeral Home in Columbia is assisting the family.


The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Friends of Caroline Hospice, 329 Friends Lane, Ridgeland, SC 29936.
