William Allen Meekins, Jr.AGE: 76 • ClaytonWilliam Allen Meekins, Jr., 76 of Clayton, DE, died suddenly on May 6, 2017.Mr. Meekins was born on April 8, 1941 in Wilmington, DE, son of the late William A. and Imogene L. Warner Meekins. He had worked for General Motors in the assembly and materials area for over 40 years, retiring in 1995. He was active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints for most of his adult life. Bill was an avid car enthusiast, as well as a self-taught mechanic. He lived his life in service to others, always willing to lend a hand when needed.Mr. Meekins is survived by his wife of 56 years, Mary I. Meekins of Clayton; 2 sons, William A. Meekins, III and his wife Deborah of Myrtle Beach, SC and Timothy Meekins of Middletown, DE; a daughter, Crystal Meekins Canon and her husband Steven of Dover, DE; grandchildren, William Meekins IV, Tyler Meekins, Jenna Canon, Kaylin Canon and Emily Canon; great-grandson Bryce Meekins; brothers, Barry Meekins (Barbara) of Clayton and Terry Meekins (Patricia) of Sandy, Utah and sisters, Dona Gonzon (Dominic) of Middletown and Jeannie Harding (her late husband, Dan) of Newark, DE.A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, May 10 at 11 am in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 310 Clark Farm Rd., Smyrna, DE.Arrangements by Faries Funeral Home, Smyrna, DE. www.fariesfuneralhome.com
