William B. MaddenFeb. 18, 1926 - Nov. 1, 2016SOUTH BEND - William “Bill” Blaine Madden, 90, of South Bend, IN, passed away at 5:28 p.m. Tuesday, November 1, 2016, at Memorial Hospital. He was born on February 18, 1926, in South Bend, IN, to the late Cecil “Dewey” and Louise (Williams) Madden. On March 23, 1946, in Mishawaka, IN, he married the former Phyllis O. Manges, who preceded him in death on June 19, 2015, after sixty-nine years of marriage.Bill is survived by his daughter, Janet (Larry) Bernier of LeHigh Acres, FL; three sons, James (Loretta) Madden of South Bend, IN, Richard (Janis) Madden of South Bend, IN; and son, Thomas (Vanjie) Madden of Cape Coral, FL; seven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren; four sisters, Lucille Bird of Angola, IN, Marjorie Holland of South Bend, IN, Joyce Stout of Denton, TX, and Sharon Dellinger of Naperville, IL; and brother, Donald L. Madden of Navota, CA. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, sister, Shirley Bishop, and brother, Robert D. Madden.Bill and his wife, Phyllis, lived in many Indiana cities including Mishawaka, South Bend, Plymouth, Washington, LaPaz and Fort Wayne, as well as Bradenton, FL. He graduated from LaPaz High School and served his country honorably in the United States Marine Corps from 1943-1946. He retired from Fort Wayne Community Schools after thirty-four years. He also taught at Indiana and Purdue Universities. He was a member of the Marine Corps League, V.F.W and D.A.V.A Memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, November 4, 2016, at Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan St., South Bend, IN. Friends may visit with the family from 1:00-3:00 p.m. Friday prior to the services.Contributions in memory of William B.
