Bill Blasdell, age 80, died peacefully on November 9, 2016, near his home in Cape Haze, Florida, from complications of brain cancer. Bill was born on February 17, 1936, in Evanston, first son of the late Robert and Ruth (Lane) Blasdell. He attended Evanston High School and was awarded a scholarship to
Purdue University, where in 1958 he earned a degree in electrical engineering. In 1973 he received an MS in computer science at Syracuse University. Bill worked his way up the corporate ladder at GE for almost 30 years, mostly in Syracuse, NY, and Bridgeport, CT. A longtime California resident, he later held executive roles with multiple technology firms in Silicon Valley. Bill had a rewarding, successful career and was widely respected by his colleagues. He worked well into his "retirement." An avid baseball fan, Bill was able to live to see the Cubs win the World Series. He enjoyed golf, tennis and skiing, among other sports. He loved his family, dogs, and many friends. Bill will be remembered for his good nature, warm smile and sense of humor. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Bill is survived by his second wife Sharon, four children from a previous marriage, nine grandchildren, five siblings, and two stepsons.
