William Brent HowardApril 4, 1939 - July 2, 2015William Brent Howard, 76, longtime Malad resident, passed away on Thursday, July 2, 2015, surrounded by family after a courageous four-month battle with a serious illness. Brent was born on April 4, 1939, in Ogden, Utah, to William Oliver and Mildred Howard. He was raised and educated in Malad and was a graduate of Malad High School Class of 1957. After high school he attend Snow College in Ephraim, Utah, where he played football. Upon graduation he moved home to help on the family farm. He served in the Air Force Reserves from 1963 to 1969. On April 8, 1966, he married Bonita Lee Beager and they made their home in Malad where he purchased the farm after his father's death in 1970. Brent was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints where he held many church positions. His favorite callings involved teaching and mentoring the youth. He spent many years as a substitute high school teacher for the agriculture and auto mechanic programs. During these times he influenced many youth throughout the community. Brent served his community on the Farm Service Administration and the Oneida County Juvenile Diversion Board. Brent was a tireless worker who would work from sun up to sun down on his farm, but also took time to enjoy life. He had a passion for sports, teaching kids how to waterski, traveling to Hawaii, and being a proud citizen of the United States of America. He was best loved for his wit and humor. There was a joke to be told to everyone he met.He is survived by his wife Bonnie; 3 children, Cindy, Shane (Debbie), and Kris (Wayne) Frisby; 7 grandchildren Dani, Meagen, Elizabeth, Clayton, McCady, Tanner and Austyn; and 4 great grandchildren. He is also survived by one brother Mark (Debbie) Howard. Brent was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Darene and Nelda, and brother Odell.Malad...Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 8 at 12 noon in the Malad LDS 2nd Ward Chapel, 20 S. 100 W. Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday evening from 7-9 p.m. and again on Wednesday from 10:30-11:30 a.m. at the Horsley Funeral Home, 132 W. 300 N.
