CHANDLERVILLE - William "Bill" Cook, 93, of Chandlerville, passed away on Nov, 11, 2016, at Walker Nursing Home in Virginia.Bill was born on March 2, 1923, in Chandlerville, the son of the late Clifford J. and Matilda A. (Williams) Cook.Bill proudly served our country in the Army Air Corps during WWII; earning the rank of technical sergeant as a tail gunner on a B24. He was a member of 464 Bomb Gp. 776 Bomb Squadron. During his service to our country Bill's plane was shot down behind enemy lines where he joined the "Caterpillar Club" and was awarded a Purple Heart upon his return home.After his service to our country Bill married Marjorie Chilton on Oct. 14, 1945. Bill was a longtime member of Chandlerville Christian Church. Bill enjoyed western square dancing and traveling with Marjorie, he and Marjorie had visited every state and many foreign countries. He also enjoyed carpentry, hunting, and fishing.Surviving Bill is his loving wife of 71 years, Marjorie; his daughters, Georgia (Dean) Eilers and Marjean (David) Session, all of Chandlerville; his grandchildren, Shannon Abbott of Chandlerville, David (Sheryl) Session of Meredosia, Colby (Penny) Eilers of Eilers, Aaron (Courtney) Session of Havana, Brooke (Joe) Merwin of Chandlerville; 13 great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary Ann Siltman of Monomouth; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.Bill was preceded in death by his brothers, Woodrow, Daniel, Joe, Clifford, and Jimmy Cook; and sisters, Anita Cook and Dorothy Carpenter.A funeral service for Bill will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at Chandlerville Christian Church. The family will receive guests at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
