William D. Adams, 83, of St. Cloud, Fla., formerly of Vandalia, passed away on Monday, Oct. 31, 2016 in St. Cloud.Mr. Adams was born on Jan. 5, 1933, in Boulder, Ill., the son of John and Lucille Adams.He went to high school in Vandalia, where he played football and won the Outstanding Athlete of the Year Award. He was a Golden Gloves boxing champion, and he loved to water ski. Mr. Adams was a veteran, joining the Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He became a professional air traffic controller and retired after 21 years of service. He was a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars.He is survived by two sisters, Thelma Wiss and Jessie Alhf. He had two sons, Willam D. Adams Jr. and Mark J. Adams; and two daughters, Dana Crosta (deceased) and Nancy Williams. He has two stepdaughters, Lola Albritton and June Algood; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
