William E. Davis, 75, passed away on Nov. 13, 2016, at Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage, Alaska. William was born on Jan. 2, 1941, in Grundy, Va. He moved to Alaska in 1975, making Anchorage his lifelong home.William spent most of his life as a career serviceman for the U.S. Air Force, serving from Sept. 25, 1961, to June 1, 1982. He served at many locations including Myrtle Beach Air Force Base, South Carolina; Hickman Air Force Base, Hawaii; Andrews Air Force Base, Washington D.C.; Patrick Air Force Base, Florida; UTapao, Thailand; Shaw Air Force Base, South Carolina; Elmendorf Air Force Base, Alaska; and Malmstrom Air Force Base in Montana. Upon retirement from the Air Force in 1982, William worked for the State of Alaska until his retirement in December 1999.William was a member of the
VFW as well as Masons. He loved the outdoors and could often find him snow machining, fishing, camping and hunting. His family remembers him as a "loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather."William is survived by his wife, Teen Davis; sons, Jerry and Gary Davis; daughter, Kimberly Michelle Davis; daughter-in-law, Suzie Davis; grandsons, Joshua Stafford and Cody Davis; granddaughter, Makayla Davis; great-granddaughter, Mariana Davis; sister, Shelby Davis Stacy; nieces, Debbie Vandyke and Denise Fischer; sister-in-law, Vickie Bright; and sisters, Joan Lester and Linda Belcher; along with many nieces and nephews.William was preceded in death by his parents, James A. Davis and Stella Davis; brothers, Clyde Davis and Earl Davis; sister, Dorothy Davis Sprague; and nephew Richard Compton.There will be a public visitation on Nov. 18, 2016, at Janssen's Evergreen Memorial Chapel, 737 E Street in Anchorage, beginning at 11:30 a.m. Services will immediately follow, beginning at 12:30 p.m. William will be laid to rest at Fort Richardson National Cemetery at 2:30 p.m. will full military honors. Pallbearers include: Jerry Davis, Cody Davis, Josh Stafford and Mike Weatherell.Arrangements are with Janssen's Evergreen Memorial Chapel.
