Ferris, William E.William E Ferris, 91, died Thursday, January 19, 2017 at the home of his son, Henry, in Candor, NY. Bill was born on January 30, 1925 in Hamptonburgh, NY, the second of the seven sons of Charles and Lillian Green Ferris. He proudly served his country in
World War II as a member of the U.S. Army. Bill, an Owner-Operator for over 50 years, worked for a number of trucking companies as a chemical hauler, spending the longest time working for Chemical Leaman Tank Lines. He was a lifetime member of Overdrive Roadmasters and the Teamster's Union. He spent most of his free time working on his trucks and visiting friends and relatives. After Bill retired, he became a part time farmer and sailor. He spent much of his time going to auctions, family picnics, parties, other social events that served food, he was always the first person in line to eat. Bill is survived by his children: William Jr and wife Nancy of Marlboro, NY; Henry of Candor, NY; Sheila Hunley and husband Russell of Fredericksburg, VA; and Cindy Brett and husband Jeffrey of Green Cove Springs, FL; 8 grandchildren: Tammy Olzinski and husband Steve of Endwell, NY; Henry "Jay"Ferris Jr of Elmira, NY; Stephanie Ferris and partner Joe Bates of Candor, NY; Brayden Krebs of Candor, NY; Kiel Ferris of Marlboro, NY; Torey Ferris of Marlboro, NY; Amy Ferris of Pleasant Valley, NY; and Jennifer Hunley of NYC; 9 great grandchildren: Sean, Connor, and Mackensie Manning; Willa, Annora, and Deanna Ferris; Hunter and Gavin Bates; Teona Ferris; several nieces and nephews; and his brothers, Charles Ferris of Candor, NY and Walter "Pete" Ferris of Willseyville, NY. He was predeceased by his parents; wife Elizabeth "Betty"; son Clifton; and brothers James "Mike", Tom, Larry, and Leslie "Stretch" Ferris. Services will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at the Estey, Munroe & Fahey Funeral Home, 137 Main Street, Candor, NY with the Rev. Phil Jordan, officiating.
