William Harrison Thacher, age 78, died April 11, 2016, at the DuBois Regional Medical Center in DuBois, PA. William was born on April 2, 1938 to the late John and Freeda (Corbett) Thacher, in Millstone Township in Elk County PA. He wed Gail Luana Ann Wendle on May 1, 1966, in Ridgway PA. After 23 years of loyal service, William retired from Penn Dot. After working for Penn Dot he went to work for Utility Constructors of Linesville, PA, and stayed with them for 15 years. In addition to his careers, he tended to his farm; William was a lifelong farmer. In addition to his wife Gail, William is survived by 1 daughter, Sally (Curtis) Lelless of Sigel, PA; 2 grandsons, William and John Lelless of Sigel, PA; 1 brother, Charles Thacher of Sigel, PA; 1 sister, Lydia Green of St. Mary's, PA. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by 1 infant daughter, Linda Kay Thacher; and 1 sister, Freda "Alice" Shutters. Family and friends will be received on Thursday, April 14, 2016, from 4-8pm, at the McKinney - d'Argy Funeral Home, 345 Main St., Brookville, PA, 15825. A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 15, 2016, also at the funeral home, beginning at 11:00am and officiated by Rev. Don Henderson. Interment will take place at the Donahey Hill Cemetery, Millstone Twp., Elk Co.
