William J. BrennanAGE: 90 • FreeholdWilliam J. Brennan, 90 years of age, formally of Freehold, New Jersey, passed away peacefully in Boca Raton, Florida on February 5, 2017. Bill was born on December 14,1926 in Ozone Park, New York. He was a graduate of John Adams High School class of 1945. Upon graduation he enlisted in the
Army and was eventually honorably discharged in 1947. He then became a patrolman for the New York City Police Department and was assigned to the 18th precinct, Manhattan, where he received many accommodations for valor and bravery.After joining the police department he met his future bride, Sophia Bal, while on vacation in Miami Florida. Bill and Sophia were married on February 12, 1955 and eventually relocated to Freehold, New Jersey where they raised their four children. Bill retired from the the New York City Police Department in 1968. He was then employed by the County of Monmouth, and then for the State of New Jersey, eventually retiring from Monmouth County Social Services Agency in 1995. Bill was a member of Our Lady of Lords Roman Catholic Church, Boca Raton, Florida, he was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus, Freehold Council No. 1672, the American Legion Post No. 54, and the Veterans of Foreign War, Freehold, New Jersey.Bill was a avid swimmer, and with the love of his life Sophia, they enjoyed biking. bowling, tennis, golf, and together they took many trips which enhanced their lives. Bill's joy in life was spending time with his family, especially at the shore. He would often take a beach house in Manasquan, N.J. for a couple weeks during the year and bring the kids and grand kids" to the Jersey shore. He continued this family tradition in Florida by bringing the family to Florida to enjoy the warmth and sun.Bill is survived by his wife of 62 years, Sophia, his children; Kevin Brennan, Jim Brennan and his companion Anita Robb, Kathleen Brennan Graziano and her husband Richard, and Barbara Brennan Biddle. Bill leaves seven grandchildren; Raymond, Michael and Eric Graziano, Colleen and Sean Brennan, and Jake and Harry Biddle.A celebration of Bills life will be held on Saturday, at 8 A.M., February 18th, at Our Lady of Lords Church, Boca Raton, Florida.
