WILLIAM J. CRUMPACKER, JR.January 16, 2017William J. Crumpacker, Jr., of Fort Myers, Florida passed away the evening of, January 16, 2017 at the age of 73. He was born on April 8, 1943 in Greenville, MS and was the son of William and Emma Lee Crumpacker. He spent the majority of his youth in the Outer Banks town of Manteo, NC where he developed his lifelong love of the water, animals and the outdoors. After his marriage to Maura O'Mahony, he moved to Ft. Myers, FL in 1970 where he lived the rest of his life.He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and devoted rescue dog owner. A longtime builder in the Ft. Myers area, he leaves a multitude of friends in both the Ft. Myers and Cashiers, North Carolina areas. His happiest times were mastering new trades. In his younger days, he raced sailboats, shrimped the Gulf Coast of Mexico, became a heavy equipment master mechanic, boat-builder, welder and went on to co-found a successful construction and development company operating across Southwest Florida. His later years were spent between Ft. Myers and the mountains of North Carolina fishing, enjoying his family, dogs and his ever-present muscle car restoration projects.He is preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Maura Crumpacker. He is survived by his son Jon, (Barbra) and grandchildren Corey, Jake, Cassie and William of Tallahassee, Florida; son Kevin of Ft. Myers, Florida; daughter Carolyn Orstrom, (Johnny) and grandchildren Taylor and Bradley of Ft. Myers, Florida and his sister Dottie Lowery of Beverly Hills, FL.A service will be held in his memory at the Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 1589 Colonial Blvd., Fort Myers, FL 33907, 239-936-0555 on Friday, January 27 at 11:00 am.
