Sep 09, 1943 - Jan 13, 2017
This obituary is administered by:
William John GeorgiOxnard, CAAs our father William J. Georgi (Bill) entered into heaven on 10/13/2017, he extended his loving arms and was once again reunited with his loving wife Toni Georgi and parents William J. Georgi and Lois E. May. Dad arrived with his big blue eyes, a smile on his face and a beer in his hand ready to see all who have passed before him. He will be dearly missed by many friends, family, fireman, first responders and all those whose lives he has touched. May he now rest in peace in the loving hands of the Lord. Bill enjoyed a great many things in life and as he would say he lived a great life. He enjoyed spending time with his family, friends, co-workers and just people in general. For those who knew Bill or were just meeting for the first time would say he was a kind and gentle man with a big heart. He absolutely loved his dog Nelly, who we believe helped comfort our father through hard times. "Anything for my sweet Nelly", was often the catch phrase of the day. He also had a soft spot in his heart for our beloved dog Willie Leroy who preceded Nelly. Willie was found and rescued from the Angeles Forest by our father.Wherever our dad went, he could always tell you where a good bar or watering hole was nearby. He was never good with giving directions but always knew where he was going. As our mother would say, "the family would go one direction and Bill would go in the opposite direction", but we always would end up in the same place. Just the grin on his face said it all. He loved golfing, fishing, snow skiing (was a handicap ski instructor), car shows, fireman reunions, reading the newspaper (from cover to cover) while enjoying his morning coffee, crossword puzzles, oldies country music, talking with people, walking his dog and spending time at their Colorado River house at Lost Lake. Bill also spent many years at Lake Nacimiento where they loved camping, boating and water skiing with their family and friends. He loved projects and restoring old cars. He was most proud of the home they built on Silverstrand Beach (Moorpark Ave.) and his "1941 Plymouth Woodie Wagon" that gave him much joy. Bill was born on September 9, 1943 in Decatur, Illinois and grew up in El Monte, California as a child. He graduated from High School in Monrovia, California and went to college in Pasadena. Bill worked as a Linesman for Southern California Edison before he started his career in the fire service. Bill was very proud of his career as a firefighter with the City of San Marino and as an engineer with the City of Pasadena. He was a veteran of the
Army, was a dedicated first responder and knew a great many trades. He was deeply loved by his wife Toni Patricia Georgi whom he married in 1978. For 37 years, Toni stood by her "Sweet Knees" until her passing in 2015. Bill was proud of his sons Matthew S. Georgi (Amy), Ryan W. Georgi (Keera) and David Saybolt. He deeply loved his grandchildren Ciera Georgi, Sage Georgi, Lulu Georgi, Ada Georgi and Derek Saybolt. The family would like to thank the many family and friends who supported dad and helped with his care through his battle with cancer. Roy Wyland, Bibah Allison, Gerry Miller and Max Georgi we would like to thank you for being there for us and for Bill. You have shown us great humanity and compassion for others and we are forever thankful.Bill"s life touched so many others, his compassion for people, his willingness to help others and his ability to make friends was a testament to how he lived his life.
