William John Walsh Jr.AGE: 85 • ManasquanBill Walsh, 85, of Manasquan, passed away peacefully on January 7, 2017 at Sunnyside Manor in Wall. He was born on January 31, 1931 in Glen Ridge, NJ and grew up in Bloomfield, NJ. He met his wife, Jean (McNamara) while working and was happily married for 64 years. In 1980, Bill and Jean relocated to Manasquan, NJ. Bill enjoyed spending the Fall/Winter seasons in Stuart, Florida. He was an avid golfer and member of the Yacht and Country Club of Stuart, Florida. Bill began his career at Verizon (formerly NJ Bell Telephone) in 1948 and worked for the next 43 years. He started in the mailroom and advanced through positions in operations, marketing, sales, human resources and external affairs, with his last assignment as Community Relations Manager of Monmouth County, before retiring in 1991. Bill was a recognized leader in the business community and received many awards with his board and council memberships. Bill was predeceased by his parents, William and Jean Walsh. He is survived by his wife, Jean, five children William (Linda), Kathleen Leone (Joe), Thomas (Mary), Brian (Colleen), and Jean Marie McGreal (Kieran); his beloved ten grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers, Allen and John Walsh. Family and friends are invited to a funeral Mass on Thursday, January 19, 2017 at 9:30 AM at St. Mark's Church, Sea Girt, NJ.
