William (Bill)EKelly William (Bill) Kelly passed away on October 14, 2010, surrounded by his loved ones. He was a dedicated, caring, and loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Bill was born on May 26, 1931, in Tacoma, WA to Lawrence and Helen Kelly. He was preceded in death by his sister, Colleen Kelly Parrish. He attended St. Patrick Parish School, Bellarmine Preparatory School and graduated from Santa Clara University in 1953. After college he proudly served as a Captain in the U.S.EArmy, where he was stationed in both Louisiana and Texas. After the military, he took over the family business, Service Distributing Co. in Tacoma. After retirement he sold his building to the U of W to help the University establish the Tacoma Campus branch. He was an entrepreneur at heart, and continued to own and manage many small businesses throughout his life in the Tacoma area. Bill was a devout Catholic and a parishioner of St. Nicholas Church. He loved traveling with his family and boating around the Puget Sound and the San Juan Islands. He was an avid sports fan who also enjoyed fishing, golfing, snow skiing, and was a long time member of the Tacoma Elks 174.He was married to his best friend and soulmate Cora (Corky) for many wonderful years. Together they were long time residents of Gig Harbor. He established their home on Horsehead Bay in the early 1960's, where they raised their five children together. He is survived by his wife Cora, and their children; Joni Schick (David), Blake Kelly, Patrick Kelly (Miscella), Kendra Carlton (Brett) and Cortney Rushforth (Troy). Bill and Cora were blessed with ten grandchildren: Amy Schick, Jake Schick, Connor, Brenna and Cora Kelly; Zane, Drew and Bo Carlton; Cole and Ty Rushforth. A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, October 29th at 10:00 a.m. at St Nicholas Church, 3510 Rosedale Street, Gig Harbor, WA 98335. Reception to follow. The family requests donations be made to the of Western Washington or Multi Care - Good Samaritan Hospice &EPalliative Care.
