POQUOSON - William Kenney Hammack was born on the 6th of October in 1946 in Quanah, Texas. Ken passed away on the 21st of November in 2016. He was a native of Quanah, Texas and a resident of Poquoson for the past 25 years. Ken attended Texas Tech University. He retired in 2015 from The Department of the Army, TRADOC as a VTC Technician. Prior to that, Ken served 27 years in the Virginia Army National Guard before retiring in 2006 as a Sargeant Major. Ken was a caring and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, godfather and friend. He was dedicated to his country, his family, and his many friends. Ken enjoyed visiting Texas and Florida, working on the farm, fishing, hunting, photography, and anything electronic. He will be missed by his four legged best friends, Annie and Rosie. Ken will be remembered by everyone who knew him. He was a GOOD man. Ken was preceded in death by his parents, JY and Ruth Hammack and his brother, Michael Hammack, all of Quanah, Texas. He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Joan Hammack; son Bill Hammack and his wife, Meisha and their daughter, Mackenzie; two brothers, Steven Hammack and Michael Hammack; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 25, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. The service will take place at Peninsula Funeral Home, 11144 Warwick Boulevard, Newport News, Virginia. Internment will follow in Peninsula Memorial Park.
