RACINE - William Knudsen, 89, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 1, 2016. He was born on June 13, 1927 in Iowa, the son of Andrew and Anna (nee: Sorenson) Knudsen. Bill proudly served in the
United States Navy during the
Korean War. He received his Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering from Marquette University and had been employed with the city of Racine's Water Dept. as Assistant Manager/Chief Engineer. Bill was a member of 1st Presbyterian Church. He also was a member of the Masonic Lodge and had been a Master Mason. Surviving are his children; Mary Anna (Frank) Michalowski, Karen (Kurt) Genich all of Racine, Carol (Russell) Grothus of Adell, Margaret Lampark of Milwaukee, Lori (Al) Traber of Burlington, and Jim Gendrich of South Milwaukee, grandchildren; Brian (Kristi) Michalowski, Nathan Michalowski, Nancy (Tony) Covello, William Genich, Elizabeth (Jon) Krebs, Frank Reisenauer, Jennifer Reisenauer, Leah (Rob) Polack, Anne Grothus, Catherine Grothus, Russell (Desaray) Grothus, Sarah (Adam) Savino, Jessica Lampark, Madelyn (Dan Ehn) Lampark, Rachel Lampark, Marcus (Katie) Traber, and Matthew Traber, 16 great grandchildren, sister, Betty Hansen, former wife, Mary V. (William) Glass of Milwaukee. He is further survived by many other relatives and friends. Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Kay, brother, Clarence Knudsen; sisters, Mary Jane Jackson and Sonja Bethke-Haarstick, granddaughter, Emily Lampark, and daughter-in-law, Laura Gendrich. Funeral services will be held at Sturino Funeral Home on Wednesday, September, 7, 2016 at 11:30 a.m. There will be a visitation at the funeral home on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until time of service.
