William M. "Bill" Stine Jr., 82, Pekin (formerly of Monticello, Carroll County), passed away at 8:45 a.m., Saturday, June 24, 2017, at the Baptist Health of Louisville, Ky. He was born on Feb. 23, 1935, in Remington to the late William M. and Marvel Jean (Summers) Stine Sr. On Aug. 21, 1959, in Chalmers, he married Lula Josephine Lake; she passed away on Sept. 2, 2016. He was a retired Civil Engineer, surveying for numerous years. He was a member of the Libanus Masonic Lodge #154 F. & A.M. of Monticello for over 50 years.Surviving are daughter, Catherine J. "Cathy" (Chris) Harley, Pekin; son, Jeffrey Robert Stine, Lafayette; four grandchildren; two great-granddaughters; brother, John "Jack" (Loretta) Stine, Chalmers; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and friends. Bill was preceded in death by his father, William M. Stine Sr.; mother, Marvel Jean (Summers) (husband Maynard) Stine -Bertsch; and wife, Lula Josephine Stine.Visitation will be from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Miller - Roscka Funeral Home of Monticello. Celebration of Life Service will be at the funeral home at 1 p.m. Wednesday with Rev. Brian Beeks of the Monticello United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow at the Yeoman Cemetery in rural Carroll County. Memorials may be given to the Palliative Care at Baptist Health, 4000 Kresge Way, Louisville, Ky., 40207-9897.
