SEBRING, Fla. — William P. "Bill" Mavity, 84, Sebring, Florida passed away on November 13, 2015 at his residence in Sebring under the loving care of his family. Mr. Mavity was born on July 31, 1931 in Garrett, Indiana, to his parents, Paul William Mavity and Barbara (Dirr) Mavity. Mr. Mavity was a retired letter carrier for the U. S. Postal Service and was the co-owner of "Yogi Bar" in Sebring, Florida. He had moved to Sebring in 1978 from Garrett, Indiana, and was of the Presbyterian faith. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Air Force and had served during the Korean War. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion in Garrett, Indiana, as well as a member of the Veteran of Foreign Wars in Garrett, Indiana. He enjoyed reading, singing and tinkering in his garage and loved to be with his dogs, Jigger and Buddy. He is survived by his wife of more than 32 years, Deede Mavity of Sebring, Florida; a son, Steve (Sandy) Mavity of Jacksonville, Florida; two daughters, Marilyn Gambino of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and Sarah Steigmeyer of Auburn, Indiana; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, November 19, 2015 at 2 p.m. at New Testament Church and Mission in Sebring, Florida. In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made to New Testament Church and Mission in Sebring, Florida in his loving memory.
