William Michael LockardVentura, CAWilliam "Bill" Michael Lockard,76 years of age, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at home with his wife and son with him. Bill was born on 3/24/40 in Remsen, Iowa. Bill attended California Polytechnic College with a B.S. in Agriculture. During his college years, he met his future wife Vivian Molnar. He and Vivian dated, married and started a family. Bill was active in the United States Naval Construction Forces (CB-4) or the "Sea Bees" which was a term for the Construction Battalion; as a member of that branch of the service he was sent into active duty and deployed to Da Nang, Vietnam. Upon returning to Burbank, their family grew and he began a 31 year career with the Ventura County Department of Public Works as a Staff Conservationist. After retiring, Bill spent his time writing, painting and landscaping at home as well as using his creative talents to beautify the grounds of Sacred Heart Church. Bill was preceded in death by his mother and father, Susan (Koecher) Baker and George Baker. He was also preceded in death by his brother Richard and sister Susan Kalka. He leaves behind his wife of 52 years, Vivian, his Son, Matt Lockard; Daughters Heidi Juarez (Carlos), Michelle Lockard, Paige Lockard (all from Ventura County) and Wendy Lockard of Whidbey Island, WA. He also leaves behind five grandchildren, James Juarez (USMC), Devin Lockard (Ventura), Jennifer Juarez (Northridge) and Christopher Humphries and Susan Humphries (Whidbey Island, WA). Bill also has cousins, nieces and nephews in other states. A Rosary and Mass will be held at Sacred Heart Church 10800 Henderson Road, Ventura, CA.93004 on Thursday, January 12th, at 10:00 AM. Burial of his urn will follow immediately thereafter at Ivy Lawn Cemetery at 5400 Valentine Road, Ventura, CA.93003 A reception with family and friends will follow; the location will be announced after the services. Bill was entrusted to the care of Reardon Funeral Home of Ventura.
