Kennedy, William "Bill" R.William "Bill" R. Kennedy, age 78, of Bradford, NY passed away on Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at the Bath VA Medical Center with his wife at his side. Bill was born on July 29, 1938 in Elmira, NY, the son of the late Donald K. and the late Gertrude V. (Stone) Kennedy. He was a graduate of Mansfield High School and later joined the United States Air Force, serving from 1958 to 1964. He married Dee M. Bowen on January 21, 1989 in Millport, NY. He was employed by NCR of Ithaca, NY as a service representative, retiring with 36 years of service. Bill will be remembered for his Servant's heart and his willingness to help anyone in need, no matter what their station in life. An avid churchgoer, he was a constant source of encouragement for those with physical or spiritual needs. He loved being outdoors taking in the many joys of fishing, hunting and hiking. He would often take young kids out to teach them how to fish and reflect. He was also known to be a wonderful mechanic - able to fix anything. Most of all, Bill will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather.He is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Dee M. Kennedy of Bradford, NY; sons: Dan (Jayne) Kennedy of East Burns, NY and Doug (Rita) Kennedy of Statesville, NC; daughter, Chris (Fran) Sutton of Corning, NY; step-son, Matthew (Allyson) Bossie of Franklinton, NC; 14 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Lisa Beese; sisters: Phylis Chamberlain of Mansfield, PA and Charlotte (William) Smith of Mansfield, PA; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Bill was predeceased by his son, Dave (Lisa) Kennedy, and his first wife, Rhenda Kennedy.Family and friends are invited to call on Tuesday, June 20, 2017 from 1:00pm to 3:00pm at the Bradford Baptist Church, 2788 Yawger Hill Road, Bradford, NY. A funeral service will immediately follow at the church at 3:00pm, Pastor Chris Durham officiating. Burial will take place at the convenience of the family. Carpenter's Funeral Home, 14 E.
