It is with heavy hearts and a few chuckles that we announce the passing of Willie Leakes, who left this world on June 19, 2024, at the age of 76. Born on August 15, 1947, in Orlando, Florida, Willie was known for his quick wit, infectious laugh, and love for his family.

Willie was the beloved son of Willis and Queen Victoria Reed Leakes, and the loving husband of Lizzie Mae Harden-Leakes. Together, they raised a lively brood of six children: Vernon T. Bell, Sadie A. Leakes, Terry L. Harden (and spouse Michael Howell), Stanley D. Harden (Deceased, but always in our hearts, with spouse Lawanda Harden), Willie B. Leakes (Deceased, who is hopefully sharing a laugh with Willie in the afterlife), and Yolanda M. Harden.

Willie was also a proud grandfather to 19 grandchildren, who he loved to spoil and tease endlessly (even if they didn't always appreciate his corny jokes).

Willie attended Huie High School, where he honed his skills in fixing cars, playing cards, and fishing. After graduation, he worked as a Block Mason, where he could often be found cracking jokes and brightening everyone's day.

In his free time, Willie enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, who always brought a smile to his face. Whether he was telling stories, sharing life lessons, or just enjoying a quiet moment, Willie cherished every moment spent with his loved ones.

Though we will miss his laughter, his jokes, and his unwavering love, we take comfort in knowing that Willie is now reunited with his beloved son, Stanley, and enjoying a game of cards with Willie B. in heaven.

Rest in peace, Willie. We will always remember you with laughter and love.
