Bother Willie Cooks was born on February 04, 1958, to the union of the late George and Marta Cooks in Hartsville, South Carolina. He later moved to New York, New York with his family while still a young child.

Willie accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Savior Baptist Church. Willie received his formal education in the New York Public Schools. After graduation, Willie was employed in the Public Transportation Services of New York where he retired in 2020. In 1985, Willie meet the love of his life and long time companion, Barbara. To this union was born his only child, Willie Cooks Jr.

Willie departed this life on Thursday, July 7, 2023. He was proceed in death by his parents and his brother James Cooks.

He leaves to cherish his memory; his wife Barbara Cooks of New York, New York; his son Willie (Tonya) Cooks Jr of Newark,New Jersey. two sisters, Reesy (Marty) Williams & Pamla Cooks both of Hartsville, South Carolina. Three grandchildren who he adored! Malia, Harmony & Nykeem. His four nephews who he referred to as the "Fab Four" Jerome,Tyrone, Kevin & Trell & his loving niece Monica; and a host of other relatives and friends.
