Wilma C. Helmandollar05/20/1916 - 12/07/2013Wilma C. Helmandollar peacefully passed away at a local health care facility Saturday morning, December 07, 2013, at the age of 97. She was born on May 20, 1916, at the family ranch in Swan Lake, Idaho. Her parents were William Leonard & Laura Lloyd Croshaw Carlson. Growing up and doing farm work with her dad and brothers was something she enjoyed and she soon became somewhat of a "tomboy". Doing this she was able to ride her favorite horse. It gave her a love of the outdoors and taught her the value of hard work. Her schooling included Swan Lake Elementary and Downey High School. Wilma was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served in many capacities her entire life. As a young lady, she worked at her aunt's millinery shop making fancy hats for ladies. This is where she met Herman; the love of her life. They spent several months dating. During this time the "Helmandollar Boys", which included Herman, played on a baseball team in Oxford. What really impressed Wilma was for their winning playoff game they all wore one of the ladies hats from Aunt Susie's Millinery. Marriage was the next step in her life. With a match made in heaven; she married Herman Joseph Helmandollar, As young marrieds, they moved to Inkom and in 1934 rented a small apartment from Bishop Webb. Soon they purchased property from Gathe Reality on Rapid Creek Road. This is where they built a nice house and raised their four children. As a young married woman she enjoyed playing softball, riding the family horse and many church activities; all the while making certain her husband and children were well cared for. Wilma had many talents and passions giving her a well rounded life. She was an ideal mother. One of her talents included making Parker House Rolls, which all the family looked forward to at Christmas time. "Mallow Dessert" was another of her specialties. She also was a wonderful seamstress; which started with the old "treddle" sewing machine. She was very proud of the beautiful matching dresses she would make for her granddaughters which she would later talk them into modeling at local fashion shows. Her other talents also included knitting, crocheting, quilting, and gardening. Her flower arrangements, especially the Gladiolas, earned many Blue and Purple Ribbons at the fairs. Her employment outside the home included working at her brother Earl's dress shop, The Paris. She also worked for several years at the Village Mart in Inkom. Later in her life; she and Herman had their marriage sealed in the Ogden Temple. Together, they served as workers in the Idaho Falls Temple for 10 years. They were happily married for 64 years. Herman passed away in 1998. Then in her early 70's, she decided to take piano lessons and she became quite a good piano player. It became quite entertaining for family members to try to sneak in on her while she was practicing, just to get to hear her play. Her siblings include: Ruth Lamoreaux, Earl Carlson, Grant Carlson, Coral Scott, and Leonard Carlson. All have previously passed away. She is survived by: Ron (Jackie) Helmandollar, Joyce (Richard) Stephenson, Linda Kaye (deceased), Sue (Dave) Wright, and Kim (Gene) Helmandollar; 10 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren & 18 great-great grandchildren. The entire family will deeply miss their mother and grandmother for the exemplary life she led, for the love and devotion she showed to each member of her family. Funeral services for Wilma will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at the LDS church at 150 Snow Peak, Inkom, Idaho. Bishop Ernie Moser will be officiating.
